The Artist

Copy_of_P9163021-Edit.jpg Glass artist/ photograph model Tomoko Yoshitake creates the whimsical art world with glass sculptures and photographs.

 

 Tomoko received her BFA from Tokyo Gakugei Daigaku University (Tokyo, Japan), where she majored in Art and Theater science/history, and obtained Museum Curator diploma. Then she attended Tokyo Glass Art Institute to study history of contemporary and traditional glass art and different glass art forms-such as fusing, glass etching, Pate de verre, lamp working /beads making, sandblasting, enamel painting, diamond point drawing, and glass blowing. She also attended following workshop in Japan: Omura Glass Studio (Chiba), Noto-jima Glass School (Toyama), Ni-jima Glass Institute (Tokyo). Tomoko has exhibited in galleries and a department store in Tokyo, Japan.

 

 The year Tomoko immigrated to United States she attended Pilchuck Glass School (Stanwood, WA), where she was nominated for Corning Award as one of top 10% students. Since Tomoko has resided in Seattle, her glass art have been seen at galleries in Seattle, Texas, and Wisconsin. She has exhibited in Annual Functional Art Contest/Show at Art/Not Terminal Gallery for last six years and awarded Judge’s choice award in 2006 and 2007. Her first solo art show at Art/Not Terminal Gallery in 2008 was a big success which drew the media's attention.

 

 tomoko.jpgBack then in Japan, she worked for a theater play trope Gekidan Turbo (Tokyo) as an assistant stage manager/ an assistant art director.

 

Tomoko’s passion for stage/theater has never faded while she continues making glass art. As a freelance performer, Tomoko joined Burning Heart Burlesque troupe in 2005 as a pick-up artist. Tomoko has also performed monthly with Fetish Lab production since 2007. She started working with photographers as a model and her image have been featured in photograph exhibitions. “Never was a more artistic model with amazing energy found... the camera loves her,” said Don & Sue of Erotica Mystique.

 

 Tomoko is an open minded and a people friendly artist, who is open to any fun idea for/with her glass art piece.... For instance, her collaboration work of photography and glass art... (please read "About" page)

 

Tomoko is currently one of Artist Members of Gallery 110 in Seattle.
